Caregiver-Mediated Treatment

Course Overview

This course equips ABA clinicians with essential knowledge and strategies for supporting caregivers of children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities who are receiving Caregiver-Led ABA.

Covering the entire process from the initial assessment to discharge, the course focuses on key techniques, including motivational interviewing and caregiver coaching via telehealth. These tools are designed to optimize treatment sessions and enhance the effectiveness of the Caregiver-Led ABA approach.

  • One self-paced course
  • Approximately three hours to complete
  • Fully virtual
  • 1 final exam (3 attempts to pass)
  • CE credits for eligible participants
    • 3 CE: BACB, CAMFT, SLP, CPA, OT

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify four research findings related to parent-led treatment.
  • Describe four key clinician behaviors to optimize caregiver-led ABA treatment.
  • Compare caregiver-led ABA to practitioner-mediated ABA based on recent research.
  • Explain the rationale behind the parent-professional partnership.

  • This course is specifically designed to provide comprehensive training in integrating ABA techniques with parent involvement, aiming to improve both clinical effectiveness and the quality of interactions with parents and caregivers. Prerequisites:

This course is open to any clinician in the CCS Network in a mid or high-level role.*

High-Level Clinician: Clinicians must meet all requirements for the Qualified Autism Service Provider.

Mid-Level Clinician: Clinicians must meet requirements for QAS Professionals.

*To provide this service line to clients, clinicians must meet requirements as described in the CCS Provider Manual.
